Our first ever Block Party for National Night Out on Saturday, October 1, 2022, was a tremendous success. More than 100 of you showed up with kids and pets in tow!

It was a perfect fall afternoon and evening—cool and clear—right on schedule.

The kidsters loved the bounce house from Hoot & Danny’s! Other fun kid stuff included the giant soap bubbles, hula hoops, chalk, and giant Jenga. The showstopper event for the children (and many of us adults too) was the arrival of Dallas Fire Department first responders in a bright red ladder firetruck. When the youngsters heard the truck’s sirens and saw its flashing lights, all they ran down the street in a thundering herd to be the first to climb onboard. Thanks to our DFD first-responders for suiting up and showing up, posing for pictures with the kids, and letting our little wannabe firefighters explore their awesome truck.

Naro’s Food Truck sold delicious, authentic street tacos, tasty nachos and refreshing sno-cones.

In the midst of all this fun, we paused for a few minutes to hold a community election for CANA’s new Board. The following persons were elected by a show of hands from everyone present for a three-year term:

Our other chairs are already in place and working hard:

It was an excellent first-time event, and we now plan to make it an annual tradition! Thanks to all who became a CANA member at the block party, and thanks to all who volunteered to make our celebration a success. You are what makes our little neighborhood great. Stay tuned for more fun community events throughout the year.

See you at our 2nd Annual NNO block party in 2023!
